Category: Let's talk
I don't really know what to think about it. this winter was our hardest one since 1985 but we broke the record for warmest day so far this year. and now it's getting unbelievably hot. what does everyone else think? is global warming just some thing that's been conjured up by Bush? or is it actually something real that could pose a danger in our lifetimes.
That's Gore who's pushing global warming for all I know. I think global warming is the enviromnentalist's version of "Repent and change your ways or suffer." So instead of an angry god we ahve an angry earth apparently. I dunno, I've also heard the argument that the planet has gone through warming and cooling trends before without the help of mankind's industrialism, so I guess it'll depend on what camp you want to belong to and who you feel comfy blaming, whether it's a natural process or whether it's all our fault and we're just evil no-good earth-rapers.
lol. earth rapers.
nah, I think it's real, but it won't kill us all until much later, but I definetly think it's on the move, global warming.
I think were on the verge of a massive climate change. It's only a matter of time before we start seeing the major weather outbreaks like tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms, and etc far worse than what's been on record so far.
After these events we could possibly go into years of a new Ice Age. I have no idea if it'll happen in our lifetime but the best thing we can do is prepare for the worst.
I know that Missouri has already seen dromatic weather changes. we had horrible tornadoes last year that were worse than ever and then we had 80 degree weather one day and a blizard the next. I heard somewhere that we were supposed to be having an ice age in 60 years.
let's all build underground shelters, eat soy, and drive electric cars! lol.
but yeah, all hail "The day after tomorrow."
it's happening...iiieeea!
I think the planet has natually warmed and cooled over time, but i believe our activities have accelorated the effect of climate change.
*looks scared
I think it's irresponsible for our politicians in the UK to be so concerned about global warming. If it is a manmade problem, then the entire world will have to stop causing the problem at once if any effect is to be experienced. If the EU reduces carbon emissions, and India increases them, then it was a waste of time for the EU to reduce them, yet EU citizens probably will be paying more taxes so that the environmentalists can get their own way. I'm sick of hearing politicians giving this matter so much attention, when there are far more serious pressing matters. In the UK, we've got the health service which is experiencing many problems, schools which are only now getting the right to discipline bullies, yobs roming towns and cities weekly, criminals reoffending, people shooting each other etc, and our politicians want to talk about global warming? We should vote the lot out and vote in a party which puts global warming where it belongs, at the bottom of the agender.
Speaking of "The Day After Tommorrow" I watched it twice yesterday. I think it's a good example what may hapen but idealy, I doubt hail stones will be that big though. I hope not that'd hurt like a bitch.
An Ice Age in 60 years you say scary. Where'd you hear that from just out of curiousity? I think it may happen on account of the polar icecaps are melting dumping fresh water into the ocean.
I saw something on the National Geographic Channel listing the top ten ways in which life as we know it could end. Global warming was at the top of the list, followed by a pandemic of disease, a supervolcano, being sucked in to a black hole, and a Gamma Ray burst. There were several others, which I can't really remember, but all of it scared me. I do believe global warming is happening now. We could stop it, but it would take a huge amount of effort and a great deal of time, time which is slowly running out. I can't say when, but I have a feeling something is going to happen. It may not be in our lifetime, but it'll happen. I'd rather get sucked in to a black hole, which stretches the human body, breaking you in to multiple pieces until you're just a bunch of subatomic particles. sounds painful, but there you are
I saw that one, I found it to be interesting but disturbing at the same time. I always believed we'll either be killed by an Ice Age which Global warming can cause or by an Asteroid/Large Comet.
I think part of the problem with this whole subject is there's so much material whose only purpose is to make us afraid. They throw dramatic numbers at us and pictures of destruction and it's all meant to sensationalize and cause fear over things we may not be able to control or fix.
